INKJETS AND TONERS

After the cartridge is inserted into the printer, why does the printer not recognize the cartridge?
• Take the cartridge out and reinstall it again.
• Use a dry cloth or paper tissue to clean the chip and reinstall it.

Sometimes when an OEM cartridge is installed, a warning prompt states that "Non-genuine cartridge is installed, continue?" why does this happen?
• Warning prompt is set by the printer manufacturer.
• Click YES to continue printing.
• There is no impact on printer and printing quality.

When a new cartridge is inserted, the printer sometimes states the new cartridges to be half full. Why does it happen?
• The printer only estimates the level of the ink in the cartridge. It is not a precise measurement.
• The new cartridges should be full and should last as long as normal.

Nothing prints out or color absence exists when new cartridge(s) are installed. Why does it happen?
• Ensure that you have purchased the correct cartridge for your printer.
• Make sure the printhead works normally. Conduct printhead cleaning if it's dry or blocked.
• Make sure the yellow sealing label is removed before installation. Absolutely, make sure the air holes are printed for cartridges with a yellow pin attached (non-yellow sealing label cartridge).

Vertical lines are not aligned or vertical banding
appears. How do I align the print head on my printer?
• First make sure you are using the most current version of the printer driver.
• Most printers will have a utility function which will give you an option to align the printer head. Follow the instructions on the screen.
• Make sure to use the printer's power switch to turn off the printer, otherwise the settings will not be saved.
• If you have already tried to align the print head and did not have any success, try turning high speed off in the printer driver settings.

Only garbled text is printing. Why?
• The interface cable may not be securely connected. Turn off the printer and computer. Disconnect and reconnect the cable on both the printer and computer.
• Make sure the printer is directly connected to the computer and not through a pass through device such as a switchbox. Make sure the printer cable is fully-shielded and meets the printer's specifications (a fully shielded IEEE-1284.4, D4 mode, compliant parallel cable is recommended with a length of 6 feet or less if you are using a PC).
• If you are only experiencing the issue when trying to print from Windows, make sure you are using the correct driver. Select your default printer driver. Check for and delete any stalled print jobs.

When I print a sheet, the colors do not exactly match the ones displayed on my screen.
• Differing monitor drivers will produce slightly different colors and therefore the colors displayed on your screen will always be slightly different than the ones that your printer prints. • You could try to match them but each program uses a slightly different driver and therefore each color scheme is slightly different.

Pages printed out are light in color, why?
• The printer setting may be in "toner save" mode, please reset to the default mode.
• The OPC drum may be aged. Please replace it.
• The mirror of laser scanner may be blurry with dust. Please clean it.
• The LBD of laser scanner may be aged. Please replace it.

There are scratches on your print, why?
• If you print on glossy paper, prints may be scratched if not handled properly. Don't place objects on top of your prints, and be careful not to scratch them with your fingernails. For best results, frame your prints under glass.
• The film for fix image is contaminated and need replaced.
• The temperature of heat the potsherd is too low, you may replace the potsherd.
• The toner in the cartridge is disqualification. Please use the regular one.

Your printout is blurry or smeared.
• Make sure your paper isn't damp or curled, or loaded face down (the printable side should be face up).
• Replace the OPC.
• Load a new sheet of plain paper and press the paper button to eject it. Do this several times. If you still have a problem, ink may have leaked inside the printer, and you need to clean it.
• Align the print head.
• Remove each sheet from the output tray as it is printed.
• Avoid handling printouts on glossy paper for a few hours to allow the ink to set.
• If ink smears on the back of a printout, clean the inside of the printer.
• If you are using double-sided paper and printing heavily saturated or dark images on the front side of the paper, you may notice that smudges or marks appear on the front when you print the second side. If one side of the paper will contain a lighter image or text, print that side first to eliminate marks or smudging.

LAPTOP BATTERIES AND LAPTOP AC ADAPTERS

Battery Won't Charge at All
If your computer runs normally on the AC adapter, but the battery won't charge, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Check the Battery and Connections:
A. Remove the battery from the system.
B. Look at the connectors in the bay and on the battery for signs of physical damage. C. Check the battery charge by pressing the status button or image on the battery near the LED's.
Note: The lights indicate the current amount of charge on the battery. If all the LED's come on when you press the button, the battery is fully charged. If fewer lights are lit, then the battery is partially charged. If any lights flash, or blink, there could be a problem with the battery. D. Reinsert the battery; push until it locks into place and the latch snaps back to the locked position.

2. Swap Bays or Try A Second Computer:
o Some systems can run with the battery in either bay. Try swapping bays if you have one of these systems.
o If you have access to a second computer like your own, try to charge your battery in that system.
Upgrade the BIOS:
Upgrade the BIOS can correct many hardware issues.
Run the Recalibration Utility if Your System has One:
This utility runs the battery all the way down and then recharges it completely. The process takes several hours so it is best to run it overnight.
Try to charge a second battery like your own if possible.
o If the second battery won't charge, the problem may be caused by the charging system in your computer.

Battery Won't Hold a Charge
If your computer battery is not lasting as long as it used to, try the following troubleshooting steps.
1. Boot into the BIOS Setup and let the battery run down. May take Hours!
2. Reset the BIOS Factory Defaults.
3. Upgrade the System BIOS.
4. Run the Recalibration Utility if Your System has One:
This utility runs the battery all the way down and then recharges it completely. The process takes several hours so it is best to run it overnight.
Try a second battery if possible.
o If the second battery has the same short life as the first, there may be a problem with something besides the battery.

AC Adapter Doesn't Work
1. Verify that the AC adapter brick is receiving power.
o Shut down the computer and unplug the adapter from the system first and then from the power socket. Wait 5 seconds.
o Plug the adapter directly into the wall socket, bypassing surge protectors, UPS units, or extension cords. The adapter LED should produce a steady green light.
o If you do not get a green light, try the adapter in another wall outlet in another room or verify that the first outlet works with a lamp or hairdryer.
o You can also isolate the power problem to a bad adapter by swapping it out with a second adapter that is known working .
2. If the adapter LED lights, check the computer for bad connections. o Examine the system power socket to be sure it does not have any bent, missing, or pushed-in pins.
o Plug the adapter connector directly into the computer, bypassing surge protectors, extension cords, etc. Be sure that the adapter connector fits tightly into the computer's power socket.
3. If you have access to another computer like yours, try your adapter on it or its adapter on your computer.

Warranty on Battery
Because portable system batteries contain chemicals that degrade over time, reducing their ability to hold a charge, they are considered to be consumable items like printer cartridges rather than permanent system components. Contact manufacturer for warranty.
Disposing of a Battery
Rechargeable batteries are considered a hazardous waste and should not be thrown in the trash. Take them to your nearest recycling center or hazardous waste disposal facility.
The Web site below has an extensive list of retailers, such as Sears, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Radio Shack, who will take your battery and send it to a recycler.
Charging a Battery
The battery is automatically charged whenever the computer is plugged in. we advises that you leave the battery in the system at all times so it will retain its charge. Itwill not harm the battery to leave it in the system, even if you are always using the computer on AC power.

How to Remove and Reinsert the Battery
1. Turn the system off.
2. Remove the battery by sliding the triangular or rectangular button on the bottom of the system and pulling the drive out of the bay at the same time.
3. Insert the battery and ensure that it clicks into place. If it does, the drive is correctly seated.
4. Turn the system on again.
